A NEW DESIGN METHOD FOR GENERATING SURROGATE KINEMATIC TRUSS ORTHOSES TO SUPPORT PATHOLOGICAL GAIT PATTERNS IN HUMAN MODEL SIMULATIONS

Abstract With increasing life expectancy, the risk of diseases central nervous system, such as cancer, strokes, etc., also increases. Strokes often result in injury to sciatic nerve, which is responsible for controlling calf muscles (plantar and dorsal flexors). A so-called ankle joint orthosis (AFO) helps support pathological gait avoid foot drop during gait. Passive orthoses are particular importance research, they do not require additional incoming energy from outside orthotic system. However, current passive personalized. On one hand, because usually have only a temporary muscle-building function and, on other individual design process computationally time consuming thus expensive. This paper presents possibility pre-dimension pre-design fast cost-efficiently by reducing complexity model based volume-optimized truss elements. Therefor traditional high calculation intensive procedure compared with reduced show its effectiviness similarity results.
